Obverse description Half-length frontal effigy of Duke Frederick V of Brunswick-Lüneburg, richly attired in an embroidered robe with a prominent ruff collar, a sash, and the insignia of a chivalric order. The figure is framed within an ornate cartouche decorated with scrollwork and fleurs-de-lis. A winged angel head appears above the cartouche. The circumferential legend in Latin runs around the outer border of the field.

Reverse description The quartered arms of Duke Frederick V of Brunswick-Lüneburg displayed on a square shield divided into twelve heraldic fields, surrounded by elaborate scrollwork mantling. Five crested helms rise above the shield in a row, each bearing its respective crest. The date 1639 is split across the upper field, flanking the shield, with the denomination numeral 4 appearing in the lower portion of the design. A two-part motto legend is inscribed around the composition.
