Obverse description The three Holy Kings (Magi) — Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar — depicted standing in full figure, each crowned and robed in regal attire, flanking the crowned arms of the City of Cologne at centre. The shield displays the three crowns above ermine drops, the traditional heraldic device of Cologne. A circular beaded border frames the design, with the legend distributed around the periphery identifying the three kings by name.
