Additional information

Marc'Antonio Zondadari served as Grand Master for only two years before his death in 1722, making his coinage among the shortest-lived issues in the Order's monetary history. A Sienese nobleman and nephew of Pope Alexander VII, his election in 1720 came after a lengthy conclave complicated by factional rivalry between Italian and Iberian knights.

The brevity of his reign limits surviving examples disproportionately compared to longer-ruling Grand Masters.
