Obverse description Central device features the crowned Danish royal shield bearing three passant lions arranged vertically, each accompanied by nine heart-shaped charges, all within a beaded inner circle. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown with a cross finial. The surrounding Latin legend reads · FRID · III · D · G · DAN · N · V · G · REX ·, identifying Frederik III as King of Denmark, Norway, of the Wends and the Goths by the Grace of God. The design is executed in a bold, relatively high relief typical of mid-17th-century Danish milled coinage.
