4 Skilling Dansk - Christian IV Helsingør mint

Christian IV established the Helsingør (Elsinore) mint specifically to process the toll revenue extracted from shipping passing through the Øresund strait — one of the most lucrative chokepoints in northern European trade. Every vessel transiting between the North Sea and the Baltic was required to stop and pay, and at the height of collection the Sound Toll generated roughly two-thirds of the Danish crown's total income. Coining that revenue locally, rather than transporting bullion to Copenhagen, was a straightforward logistical decision with significant political implications for regional monetary control.

The Helsingør mint operated only intermittently, and its output across all denominations is modest. The 1608–1609 window for this type is narrow even by that mint's standards.
