| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned oval shield of Denmark bearing three passant lions accompanied by nine hearts, the arms set upon a long cross that extends to the coin's border and divides the peripheral legend into four quarters. The crown surmounting the shield is rendered in bold relief with characteristic early seventeenth-century style. A rope-twist inner circle frames the central device, with a beaded border running along the coin's outer edge. The circumferential Latin legend reads CHRISTIANVS IIII · D:G · DANI, identifying the issuer as Christian IV, King of Denmark by the Grace of God. |

| Reverse description | Central field carries a multi-line inscription giving the denomination and date, reading IIII / SKILLI / NG · DA / NSKE / 1609, all within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding peripheral legend in Latin continues the royal titulature: NORWEGI · VANDA · GOTH DR · Q · REX, proclaiming Christian IV as King of Norway, the Vandals, and the Goths. The lettering is boldly hammered in the manner typical of early Danish coinage, with a beaded border encircling the entire reverse. |
