Obverse description Three-quarter length armored effigy of King Christian III facing right, holding a sword in the left hand. The bust breaks the inner beaded circle, with the head dividing the surrounding Latin legend. A second beaded ring frames the outer edge of the coin. The design is characteristic of early Danish Renaissance hammered coinage, rendered in a bold, somewhat crude style typical of Ribe mint production.
