Obverse description The Hamburg city arms — a turreted white castle with three towers upon a brick base — occupies the central field. The denomination numeral '4' appears prominently at the top of the legend, flanked by decorative stops, with the legend reading 'COURANT * 4 * SCHILLING' across the upper arc and 'HAMBVRGER' along the lower arc, all separated by small floral ornaments. The mintmaster's initials 'O · H · K ·' are positioned below the shield in the lower field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The execution is sharp and precise, consistent with a pattern or proof striking.
