Reverse description Central device displays a displayed double-headed eagle, the imperial symbol of the Holy Roman Empire, with both heads crowned individually and surmounted by a single large imperial crown above. The eagle's breast bears a shield or orb, and the wings are spread broadly to either side. Below the eagle, between the talons, appears the mintmaster's initials (e.g. IHL or OHK depending on the year of issue). The surrounding legend reads 'FRANCISCVS D. G. ROM. IMP. SEMP. AVG.' in capital Roman letters, identifying Holy Roman Emperor Francis I as the imperial authority under whose suzerainty the coin was struck.
