| Obverse description | Irregular cob-style flan bearing the Guatemalan Type II counterstamp applied at center: a circular incuse punch depicting a radiant sun over three mountain peaks (the national emblem), set within a beaded border. Surrounding the central counterstamp, partial legends are visible in the field reading 'G.0.US.' above and 'R.4.' below, consistent with the guaranteed value and issuing authority markings of the 1839 emergency issue. A circular hole, pierced post-mint, is present at lower left. The surface displays the characteristic rough texture of a hammered cob flan with natural flow lines and die-struck irregularities. |
