| Obverse description | Central crowned quartered royal shield of Spain bearing the arms of Castile, León, Aragon, and Granada, with an inescutcheon of the House of Austria (Burgundy-Austria). The shield is flanked by the mint mark 'B' (assayer) on the left and the denomination mark '8' at the base. The encircling legend reads CAROLVS II D G, distributed around the shield, rendered in Roman capitals. The coin's milled border is visible as a tight beaded rim. The overall style is characteristic of the Segovia roller-milled coinage of the late seventeenth century. |
