Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features a column surmounted by a Liberty cap, with the denomination numeral 4 and the initial R flanking the pillar on either side, all contained within a beaded inner circle. A circular legend surrounds the central device, inscribed POR LA LIBERTAD SALV R. 4., proclaiming the coin's allegiance to Salvadoran liberty. The overall composition reflects the republican iconography common to newly independent Central American states of the 1820s.

Aanvullende informatie

El Salvador declared independence from the Central American Federation in 1841, but this 1828 piece predates that break — it was struck while the country still nominally operated under federal authority, yet issued with distinctly local provisional character as the nascent state struggled to establish functioning institutions. The Federation's monetary infrastructure was thin at best, and regional mints filled gaps with exactly these kinds of provisional issues.

KM#8 is among the earlier attributable Salvadoran silver pieces, and surviving examples are genuinely scarce.
