Reverse description A large ornate cross occupies the central field, with a castle in the upper-left and lower-right quarters and a rampant lion in the upper-right and lower-lower-left quarters, all contained within an inner circle. The cross is rendered in the style of the Jerusalem cross common to Spanish colonial coinage of the period. A circular Latin legend incorporating the regnal title and date runs around the outer border of the coin.
