Obverse description Central field bears the crowned Royal Arms of Spain, displaying the quartered shield with the castles of Castile and the lions of León, surmounted by a large ornate royal crown. The shield is rendered in fine relief with intricate detail characteristic of early milled coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design along the periphery, reading PHILIP.V.D.G.HISPAN.ET IND.REX, proclaiming Philip V by the Grace of God King of Spain and the Indies. The coin exhibits a bold reeded rim framing the entire composition.
