| Obverse description | Quartered shield displaying the castles of Castile and lions of León in alternating quarters, characteristic of the Spanish Royal Arms as used under Felipe V. The shield is rendered in the cob (macuquina) style, with irregular flan edges and flat relief typical of hand-hammered production. Partial legend surrounding the shield, largely off-flan as is customary for cob coinage of this period. The denomination numeral and assayer initial appear in the field, though their placement and visibility vary by strike. |
