| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold Greek cross divides the field into four quadrants, each set within a quatrefoil (quadrilobe) frame. Alternating castles of Castile and rampant lions of León occupy the quadrants in diagonal pairs. The date 1589 appears at the top of the surrounding legend, with the full inscription ET INDIARVM REX distributed around the periphery, identifying Philip II as King of the Indies. The cross terminals extend to the beaded inner border, and the overall design retains the bold, slightly irregular relief characteristic of Segovian hammered silver coinage. |
