Obverse description Armored and laureate bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the portrait style characteristic of the Mexico City Mint's milled coinage. The effigy displays the king's mature features with flowing hair tied at the nape, set against a flat field with toothed border. The circular legend reads CAROLUS III DEI GRATIA, distributed around the periphery, with the date 1785 appearing in the exergue below the bust. The overall design reflects the neoclassical reformist aesthetic introduced under the Bourbon coinage reforms of the late eighteenth century.
