Obverse description Draped bust of King Charles III facing right, with powdered wig tied at the nape, occupying the central field. The peripheral legend reads CAROLUS III DEI GRATIA, separated by pellets, with the mint date 1786 positioned in the exergue below the truncation. The effigy is rendered in the neoclassical style characteristic of Spanish colonial coinage of the period, with fine detail in the hair and drapery of the royal mantle.
