Obverse description The Ecuadorian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting Mount Chimborazo with a steamship at its base, a radiant sun above framed by a decorative banner, and an Andean condor with spread wings perched atop the oval shield. The shield is flanked on either side by four Ecuadorian flags and war trophies, with a fasces and crossed cannon below. The denomination '4' appears to the left of the shield and 'R' to the right. The circular legend 'REPUBLICA DEL ECUADOR' arcs around the upper periphery, with the mint mark 'QUITO.G.J.' and a floral ornament along the lower margin, all within a finely reeded border.
