| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate tughra of the Khalifa Abdullah ibn Muhammad, rendered in flowing Arabic calligraphy. The denomination of 4 qirsh appears in Arabic numerals and script beneath the tughra. The entire design is enclosed within a plain linear border, which is itself surrounded by a beaded outer border running along the coin's rim. The field shows no additional decorative elements, giving the design a stark, functional character typical of Mahdist Sudan coinage. |
