Additional information

Anhalt-Bernburg was one of the smallest and most financially strained of the German microstates, and its copper coinage of the 1830s reflects the fiscal pressures of a principality that could barely sustain independent minting operations. Alexius Frederick Christian ruled until his death in 1834, after which Anhalt-Bernburg passed through two more rulers before being absorbed into the Duchy of Anhalt in 1863.

The KM#78.2 designation distinguishes this from the closely related 78.1 variety — a die difference that collectors of Anhalt minor coinage track carefully given how thin the surviving population is across both types.
