| Obverse description | Cursive royal monogram of Duke Alexius Frederick Christian occupying the central field, composed of intertwined script letters, surmounted by a princely crown. The monogram is rendered in an elegant cursive style characteristic of early 19th-century German coinage, with no surrounding legend. The field is otherwise plain. |

| Additional information |
Alexius Frederick Christian ruled Anhalt-Bernburg for nearly four decades, but his coinage output was modest and concentrated in brief windows of minting activity. This 4 Pfennige issue, produced across just two years in the early 1820s, reflects the fragmented monetary reality of the German states before Zollverein consolidation forced greater standardization — each petty principality still exercising its own minting prerogative, however small the output. The KM#78.1 designation distinguishes this from related varieties within the series.
