Obverse description The central field displays the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Abdülaziz, executed in the Ottoman tughra script with characteristic sweeping loops and upward projecting shafts. The tughra occupies the majority of the flan, rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The Arabic numeral '4' denoting the denomination in para appears below the tughra. The entire design is enclosed within a finely dentilated border running along the coin's periphery.
