| Reverse description | A radiant sun in glory occupies the central field, its rays extending to fill the inner circle; within the solar disc, the Hebrew Tetragrammaton (יהוה, Jehovah) is inscribed. The design is enclosed within a double inner circle, around which two concentric legend bands carry the Latin motto and date. The composition reflects the strong Protestant and divine-providence iconography characteristic of the Vasa dynasty coinage. |

Karl IX had not yet formally assumed the royal title when these were struck — he ruled as regent and then "elected king" following the deposition of Sigismund III, whose Catholic faith made him unacceptable to the Lutheran Swedish estates. The coinage of 1605–1606 thus predates Karl's actual coronation in 1607, issued under contested authority during a period when Sweden's royal succession was anything but settled.
The "first serie" designation distinguishes this type from later die revisions made before Karl's death in 1611.
