| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central square perforation surrounded by a raised square boss, flanked by four large Chinese characters in regular script (kaishu) disposed in the four cardinal positions around the central void. Reading clockwise from top, the legend reads 文 (top), 永 (right), 久 (bottom), 寶 (left), together forming the era name and denomination inscription 文久永寶 (Bunkyū Eihō). The characters are boldly rendered in high relief against a granular textured field, with a plain raised rim encircling the entire design. The overall aesthetic is consistent with a bosen (mother coin / master pattern) produced under the Tokugawa shogunate. |
