Reverse description The reverse displays an elaborate decorative design covering the entire field, centered on the square perforation. A series of overlapping fan-shaped or wave-petal motifs (seigaiha) radiate outward from the four sides of the central square hole, creating a symmetrical foliate pattern that fills the coin's surface. The design is deeply incuse with bold, well-defined lines, consistent with the high-relief craftsmanship expected of a bosen (mother coin) used as a casting matrix. The wide flat rim is plain and unadorned, conforming to the kōkaku katsuen (broad-rim, wide-edge) classification.
