Aanvullende informatie

Frederik III acquired absolute monarchy in Denmark through the coup of 1660, when the nobility's chronic inability to finance the wars against Sweden handed the burghers and clergy the leverage to strip the aristocracy of its constitutional privileges entirely. The 4 Mark denomination was part of the reformed coinage that followed — a deliberate assertion of centralized royal fiscal authority after decades of monetary disorder during the Swedish wars.

The Dav EC II reference places this squarely within Davenport's European Crowns series, reflecting the coin's weight class relative to contemporary thaler-sized issues across northern Europe.
