Reverse description Central device comprises the Danish crowned shield of arms displaying a rampant lion passant, enclosed within a baroque cartouche surmounted by a large arched royal crown with fleur-de-lis finial and a small cross at the apex. The mint master's initials 'HC' appear to the left of the shield and 'M' to the right, identifying the issue as struck under mint master Hans Christopher Møller. The date 1688 and a small cross appear at the upper left within the legend. The circumferential Latin legend reads IIII·MARCK·DANSKE·1688, denoting the denomination and year, separated by pellet stops, with a beaded border encircling the entire design.
