Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of King Carl XI of Sweden facing left, wearing a crown and long flowing hair with ribbons. The effigy is rendered in a baroque portrait style within a plain inner circle. The circumferential legend reads CAROLVS · D : G : SVE : GOTH : WAN : Q : REX : ET : PR : HÆ, separated by decorative stops, running clockwise around the bust. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period.
