| 表面の説明 | Central device depicts a small vessel or canoe navigating stylized waves, with two figures seated within the boat and a celestial orb (possibly the sun or moon) rising above. The scene is rendered in a primitive, low-relief style characteristic of early republican emergency coinage. A circular legend surrounds the central design reading MARGARITA PERLA PRECIOSA, referencing the island of Margarita as the precious pearl. The overall style reflects the rudimentary engraving conditions under which this emergency issue was produced in 1810. |

Margarita Island, off the Venezuelan coast, declared independence from Spain in 1810 — among the earliest territories in South America to do so. This copper issue is a product of that immediate assertion of autonomy, struck locally with whatever dies and metal the island's provisional authorities could muster. The minting infrastructure was rudimentary at best, and strike quality varies considerably across surviving specimens as a direct consequence.
