| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central crowned Gothic 'K' monogram for Karolus (Charles I) surmounted by an ornate crown, flanked by a castle to the left and a lion to the right within a beaded inner circle. The assayer mark 'oMo' appears below the monogram alongside a pomegranate and a quatrefoil, symbols associated with the Mexico City mint during its earliest period of operation. A circular Latin legend runs within the outer border of the flan, partially legible due to the irregular hammered flan. The overall design reflects the earliest coinage tradition established at the New World's first mint. |
