| 裏面の説明 | A finely detailed depiction of St. Agatha's Tower (also known as the Red Tower) at Ghajn Tuffieha, Mellieha, occupies the central field, rendered in high relief showing the massive rectangular fortified structure with its characteristic corner towers and surrounding rubble stone walls amid rocky terrain. The date 1975 appears to the right of the tower in the mid-field. Below the central design, in the exergue, the denomination is expressed as the stylised ligature pound sign followed by M 4, denoting four Maltese Liri. |

St. Agatha's Tower — locally called id-Dwejra — sits on the northwestern tip of Gozo and was built by the Knights of St. John in 1650 as part of a coastal defense network against Ottoman and Barbary corsair raids. Malta's post-independence commemorative silver program used these fortifications deliberately, anchoring the new republic's identity to the Knights' architectural legacy rather than British colonial imagery. The 1975 issue predates the declaration of the republic by just months.
The .987 fineness is unusually high for a commemorative of this period — most contemporary issues settled at .925.
