| Obverse description | The Coat of Arms of Malta occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing the George Cross and the traditional Maltese heraldic arms, supported on either side by two seahorses rampant. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown, and a ribbon scroll at the base bears the national motto VIRTUTE ET CONSTANTIA in raised Latin lettering. The legend MALTA is inscribed in large, widely spaced letters along the lower rim. |
