Additional information

The 4 Kreuzer was among the last copper issues of the Austrian Empire before the currency reform of 1857 fully phased out the old Conventions-Münze system — these pieces circulated under the new Österreichische Währung but retained copper as a concession to existing small-change infrastructure. Production ran across multiple mints, accounting for the die variations catalogued separately under H#2168 and H#2169.
