The "Krasny" designation refers to the Krasny ("Beautiful") Mint in Moscow, a facility revived under Elizabeth to supplement St. Petersburg's output during periods of high demand. This particular piece is a pattern — a proposed denomination that never entered circulation — from a broader mid-1750s effort to rationalize Russian silver coinage following years of monetary disorder inherited from the reigns of Anna and Ivan VI. The type 1 distinction separates it from at least one other design iteration tested the same year.
