Obverse description Central field features the elaborately interlaced crowned cypher of Landgrave Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel, composed of two intertwined script letters 'F' forming a decorative monogram. The cypher is surmounted by a large electoral crown with prominent arches and jeweled band. The design is rendered in a baroque style with flowing scroll-work, and the coin bears no peripheral legend, the entire obverse being dominated by the royal monogram device.
