Obverse description Central field features the crowned royal cypher of Frederick II, comprising an elaborate interlaced 'FR' monogram (Fridericus Rex) surmounted by a royal crown rendered in fine relief. The date is divided by the monogram, with '17' appearing to the left and '64' to the right at mid-field. The design is presented without a surrounding legend, the plain field giving prominence to the crowned cipher. The coin bears a milled or rope-pattern border around the rim.
