Obverse description Central field bears the crowned arms of Canton Fribourg — a quartered shield with the characteristic black-and-white diagonal division — set within a beaded oval cartouche and flanked by crossed laurel and palm branches tied at the base. The abbreviated canton name CANTON F[REYBURG] is inscribed along the upper periphery in Latin legend, and the date 1813 appears in the lower exergue below the wreath. The crown above the shield is a mural-style form with trefoil finials. The overall design is executed in a neoclassical engraving style typical of early nineteenth-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
