Obverse description Central oval shield of Lucerne, divided per pale with the left half horizontally lined (representing silver/white) and the right half plain (representing blue), displayed within a beaded inner border and surrounded by an ornate wreath of palm fronds. The shield is surmounted by a mural crown. The legend CANTON LUZERN arcs around the field to the left and right, with the date 1813 prominently placed in the exergue below.

The legend SCHWEIZER EIDGENOSSEN arcs around the upper field, and the denomination 4. FRANKEN appears in the lower exergue.
