Beschrijving keerzijde Central design features the Arabic numeral '4' enclosed within a plain raised circle at the centre of the field, with radiating lines extending outward toward the scalloped edge, dividing the reverse into decorative segments. Arabic inscriptions occupy the spaces between the radiating lines, bearing the denomination 'فلس' (Fils) and the dual dating in both the Hijri year (١٣٧٢) and the Gregorian year (١٩٥٣), together with the legend 'المملكة العراقية' (Kingdom of Iraq). The overall composition is bold and geometric, well-suited to the distinctive twelve-lobed scalloped flan.

Aanvullende informatie

Faisal II was 18 years old in 1953 and had only recently assumed direct rule after his regent, Abd al-Ilah, stepped aside following his formal coronation that May. This coin was struck in the same year — one of the last relatively stable issues before the 1958 revolution in which both Faisal and Abd al-Ilah were killed, abruptly ending the Hashemite monarchy and rendering the entire coinage series obsolete overnight.
