Obverse description Central field occupied by the crowned quartered coat of arms of Spain under the Bourbon dynasty, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, the chains of Navarre and the fleurs-de-lis of the French Bourbon house in the subordinate quarters, with a small escutcheon at the fess point. The mint mark (M) and assayer initials (MJ) flank the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading PHILIPPVS V D GRATI, denoting Philip V by the grace of God, separated by ornamental stops.
