Reverse description Central field displays a large, finely detailed ceiba tree — the national tree of the republic — standing on a grassy mound with flowering plants at its base, enclosed within a raised inner circle. Flanking the trunk at mid-field are the denomination indicators '4•' and 'E•' (4 Escudos). Below the inner circle, the mint mark and assayer initial 'N•G•M•' (Nueva Guatemala, assayer M) and fineness '21' (karats) are inscribed, with the letter 'S' to the lower right indicating the quality standard. The peripheral legend •LIBRE CRESCA FECUNDO• (Free grows fertile) encircles the design in Latin script.
