Obverse description The obverse displays the quartered Royal Arms of Castile and León within a baroque shield, showing alternating castles and lions in the four quadrants, surmounted by a crown. The shield is set within an ornate inner circle and surrounded by a partial Latin legend in the field. Mint mark and assayer initials appear flanking the shield, with the denomination partially visible at the periphery. The flan is characteristically irregular, as typical of cob-style (macuquina) gold coinage struck at the Bogotá mint during the mid-eighteenth century.
