Reverse description The crowned quartered arms of Spain occupy the center of the field, displaying the castles of Castile and the lions of León in the first and fourth quarters, the fleurs-de-lis of the Bourbon dynasty in the third quarter, and the granada pomegranate at base, all beneath an ornate royal crown rendered in fine detail. The circular Latin legend INITIUM SAPIENTIAE TIMOR DOMINI, meaning 'The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,' runs along the periphery. The Seville mint mark 'S' and the assayer initial 'P' and 'A' appear in the lower field below the shield, flanked by small rosette stops. A dentilated border surrounds the entire design.
