| Obverse description | Central quartered royal shield of Spain surmounted by an ornate crown, displaying the quartered arms of Castile (castle), León (lion), Aragón (vertical pales), and Granada (pomegranate) with the central escutcheon of the French Bourbon fleur-de-lis, characteristic of Felipe V's dynastic claims. The shield is set within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend disposed around the periphery. The flan is irregular in shape and shows typical characteristics of hammered coinage, with the design struck slightly off-center on the planchet. |

| Reverse description | Bold cross pattée set within a quatrefoil formed by two interlocking capital Cs (for Carolus), adorned with floral ornaments at each angle of the cross, creating the characteristic escudo-type design of Spanish hammered gold coinage. The mint mark (V for Valencia) and the denomination numeral 4 appear in the angles of the cross. The peripheral legend is disposed around the beaded border of the irregularly shaped flan, with the date 1707 partially visible. |
