| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Carlos IV facing right, struck using the earlier portrait die of Carlos III, with powdered wig styled in the late Baroque court manner. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail in the clothing and hair. The circular legend reads CAROL·IV·D·G·HISP·ET IND·R· around the periphery, with the date 1790 displayed prominently in the lower exergue flanked by pellets. A milled border encircles the entire design. |
