Obverse description Armored and draped bust of King Carlos III facing right, rendered in the so-called 'rat nose' portrait style characteristic of the earliest Chilean bust coinage, with elaborately curled wig and lace jabot at the throat. The effigy occupies the majority of the field, with the date 1763 prominently displayed in the lower exergue. The circular Latin legend surrounds the bust, reading CAROLUS III D G HISP ET IND REX, separated by dot stops. The coin exhibits a fine milled border of beading along the entire periphery.
