| Reverse description | Octagonal reverse retaining the design of the Spanish colonial host coin from which this piece was cut. The central field displays a quartered coat of arms of Castile and León, featuring alternating castles and rampant lions in the four quadrants, with a central oval escutcheon bearing three fleurs-de-lis, indicative of a Spanish colonial macuquina or milled coinage of the Bourbon period. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by partial column devices at the sides, remnants of the Pillars of Hercules motif typical of Spanish colonial coinage. The entire design is encompassed within the trimmed octagonal planchet, with the host coin's original legend largely removed by cutting. |
