Obverse description Within an elaborate Baroque cartouche of scrolling acanthus foliage and ornamental flourishes, the civic arms of Regensburg display two crossed keys in saltire, their bows uppermost, set against a rounded shield. The cartouche fills the entire field, framed by a raised rim bearing the encircling Latin legend. The overall composition is rendered in high relief, showcasing the refined engraving style characteristic of early eighteenth-century south German goldsmithing.
