Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Joseph II facing right, with flowing hair and an olive-leaf wreath crowning his head. The emperor is portrayed in a classical Roman style, wearing a lace-trimmed mantle fastened at the shoulder. The circular Latin legend reads IOSEPH II D G R I S A GERM HV BO REX, abbreviating his full imperial and royal titles. The mint mark A appears in the lower exergue below the bust truncation. The portrait is rendered in high relief with fine engraving detail characteristic of late 18th-century Viennese die work.
